We are from Ft Lauderdale, FL. On 1/9/26 my boyfriend rushed himself to ValleyWise Med Center ER while visiting AZ with his 12y/o daughter. He had difficulty breathing, severe shoulder blade pain, & vomiting. Found out day 5 of 7, diagnosed w/ a widowmaker heart attack, something only about 5% survive. The interventional team who performed his emergency cardiac catheterization saved his life, & we are incredibly grateful. A few nurses — Terance, Quintin, Jesus, and Kristin — were attentive respectful & compassionate. Unfortunately, much of the cardio team & overall care lacked communication & professionalism. We experienced condescending interactions, unclear answers, & poor coordination. Nursing care was inconsistent: bloody syringes left in his bed, trash/IV fluids on the floor where he was expected to walk, 20+ minute ICU call light delays, RXs not given as ordered, profanity @ the nurses’ station, urinals not changed despite limited mobility, & a 6hr wait for treatment of an infected IV site. He was placed NPO 3 consecutive days for a 2nd catheterization that was repeatedly postponed & ultimately canceled w/o clear communication. Discharge guidance was contradictory. 1 team told us he could fly home to FL in 2wks; another said absolutely not for 2months. We have no support system in AZ, which was repeatedly communicated. With no clear answers, we rented a car & drove 36hrs home, stopping every 45mins so he could walk. Once in FL, we were unable to transfer critical RXs between ValleyWise & our pharmacy despite multi calls & management involvement. We were transferred repeatedly & hung up on, & had to wait until returning to Florida to obtain RXs. We are thankful he survived. But the lack of communication, professionalism, & coordinated care made an already traumatic experience far worse. ValleyWise should be ashamed! If you must come here, bring a strong advocate w/ you. I’d elaborate more if Google allowed more characters

The service here is absolutely changed so you see latest videos attached. I'll be documenting my process because this isn't safe. My experience at Valleywise Hospital was truly exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I felt a level of care and compassion that I hadn't encountered in other medical settings. They took the time to listen to my concerns, treating me with respect and empathy. It was clear they were genuinely invested in understanding my health issues. I especially appreciate how their thoroughness and expertise led to the diagnosis of my pancreatitis, a condition that had previously gone undetected. The medical staff's professionalism was evident in their knowledge and skill, while their kindness made a significant difference in my overall comfort and well-being during a difficult time. I'm incredibly thankful for the care I received at Valleywise; they not only addressed my medical needs but also treated me with genuine human connection.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but this is your reminder that not all medical personnel are incompetent! I was transferred to this location and admitted after not being able to hold down food, water, etc. for over a week. The staff was very patient and kind. They came up with a treatment plan that was transparent and they were sure to communicate so everyone remained on the same page. I was there a total of four days, and I could truly go on & on about how they took every issue I had and made sure it was solved before I was released. I went in honestly ready to get my affairs in order, and they nursed me back to 100% health. Very grateful. Shoutout to the 9th floor staff :)

Let me start of with the good, the night shift staff was absolutely wonderful, timely, professional yet personable and empathetic. Shelly especially!!! She was a light in a scary time for us and we loved her. We were transferred here from the maryvale location at around 11pm and the night was absolutely wonderful. And the facility itself is beautiful and clean. 99% of the day staff was also wonderful, including the surgery team and transit. However, our day shift nurse did not fit into that wonderful category. I have tried figuring out where to place a complaint but have been given no answers from anybody on where to do so so I’m doing it here. Our day shift nurse Zach on the 9th floor on 5/8/26 did not make the day of surgery very easy. We didn’t see much of him, and didn’t offer a whole lot of comfort, which fine, I know he must be busy with other things. I can understand that and that wasn’t really the problem. The problem really started post op from his gallbladder removal. He was still very sedate from surgery and very sore. Both the surgery team and his night nurse stressed that they wanted the leg compression sleeves to be applied to his legs post-op to help prevent blood clots, they even had to go hunting for the inflation machine to attach to them. Zach hooked him up to it post-op but did not turn it on. I noticed and went out to the nursing station where he sat much of the day and asked him if he could please turn it on, to which he replied that it wasn’t really important and didn’t matter much, but if it made me feel better that he’d be in in a few minutes to turn it on. Really made me feel like a nuisance but whatever, I went back in the room and waited. And waited. He never came in. Don’t come check on us until he came in and asked if we were ready to go over discharge instructions. I told him nobody came in to talk to us about the surgery, he asked if we actually wanted that and that they probably talked to the patient post up and he just didn’t remember. And I told him yes, we want to know how the surgery went especially because they were worried about a complication intra-op. He sighed and went to go get a doctor for us. The surgeon who went over discharge and surgery details with us was wonderful. Zach’s version of discharge instructions were skeletal at best. And we were both offered and requested a doctors note because they don’t won’t him going back to work for 1 week. We were given a packet afterwards which we made the mistake of assuming the note was in there, we actually had to come back two days later to pick that up because he failed to give that to us. And then when we were okayed to go, he simply told him to get dressed and left. Leaving me, who thank god has medical experience though he did not know that, to take off all his ecg leads, get him dressed, move him up and out of the bed which he was struggling a lot with mobility, and help him get to the bathroom. The entire time Zach was out nurse, we were an afterthought and if I went to ask him something he made it appear we were a nuisance. With that attitude, he really should have picked a different career

I liked this place and was planning on having my baby here, but it felt like they didnt respect my privacy. Kept leaving the door open and ppl were walking in during my ultrasound and vaginal exam. I know im not new to the birthing experience but i still want my privacy and just respect as i give to the ppl who work there.
